Not the splashiest hire, but certainly one that makes sense from a basketball standpoint, especially for a team like the Nets (12 wins last year!). Avery Johnson confirmed it with his employers, and the rest of the world, by speaking with Hannah Storm on Wednesday afternoon. The deal is said to be for three years. Of course, one question led to another, and next thing you know he's being asked about LeBron. After the recent tampering fines leveled on Mark Cuban and Steve Kerr, Johnson was smart, replying, "Who are you talking about?" Congratulations are in order for a genuinely good guy in Johnson, but it's most definitely a sad day for anyone who enjoyed watching the Toyota Halftime show during those Jazz/Warriors Friday night games in the middle of January who couldn't wait to hear him laugh at a terrible joke from Jalen Rose.
